It’s all go in our service centre in Glasgow. Whether it’s carrying out repairs, MOT’s or servicing a whole fleet of vehicles, Allied Autocare Glasgow has always got something going on. Service advisor, Stephen Ferguson knows all about juggling tasks in our busy workshop. Let’s find out what he gets up to on a daily basis.
How long have you been working with the company?
I have been working with Allied for 4 years as a service advisor within the service department.
What attracted you to the role?
I applied for the role when I left school, this has been my first full-time job and I enjoy the challenges that it brings with it.
Can you explain what a large part of your role is and how you go about this?
My main responsibilities are making sure my customers are happy with the service I provide them with. I enjoy knowing that customers have had a positive experience and are getting value for money.
Can you explain what a day in the life of an Allied Autocare service advisor includes?
The service department is a very fast-paced environment. We have about 40 customers a day booked in, the majority of this is made up of taxi drivers, Motability customers, staff and fleet vehicles. This is split between two receptions – Ford and Peugeot. We all work together to update our customers as quickly as possible and get their cars back to them repaired, clean and even hoovered!
What are the biggest challenges you face?
I would say the biggest challenge is how busy our phone lines are. Having to juggle that with customers who are already booked in can be hard, but that pressure is also what I like about the job.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy meeting new people and dealing with different situations. Every day is so different, and they go by very quickly. We have also had a change-over in staff from the front desk to managers so that means I’m learning different processes and I enjoy finding out new ways to deal with tasks.
